"There
is always something to live for" Musician 'IV
Elmendorf' explains...
The
one thing I feel in life that will never let me down is
music. No matter how friends, girls or even family may
disappoint me, music has always been there to make things
right. Ever since I was little I wanted to pursue music,
but always sat in my oldest sisters shadow musically. No
matter what I had tried through my first few years of
college my mother was very negative about me wanting to do
music as a career. Finally my mother told me one day that
I was not very good and I needed to stop and get my life
straightened out. We got into an argument over it, and she
told me to get out and not come back. Over the next couple
months I slept in my car, at my aunts, and on friend's
couches.
All this time I was going through emotional issues that I
was feeling really abandoned and scared of the future. I
felt that music was out of the picture in my life and
without music I didn't feel there was any point to living.
I wasn't suicidal, but I was at the point of depression
that I did not even care about life. After many weeks I
realized the greatest thing in my life worth living for
was my niece Lorelai. The song is called "It's
Over" but the idea that I wanted to portray is no
matter how bad it seems, it's never really over. There's
always something worth living for.
